Specialty Gases Mixtures

Home > Specialty Gases

Nitrous Oxide

Common Uses of Instrument Grade (Vapour)

  • Used in scientific, medical and food applications
  • Used in AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy) to increase flame ionisation temperature
  • Medical aerosol propellant
  • Used in the manufacture of whipped cream, paints, pesticides and cosmetics

Common Uses of Engine Boost Grade (Liquid)

  • Engine boost for high performance motors. When introduced, it increases the internal combustion power output by allowing fuel to be burned at a higher rate than would normally be the case.

Sizes Available

  • 17.0m3

Info Sheet

Hydrogen 5% Nitrogen 95%

Common Uses

  • Hydrogen leak testing is the normal way in which a hydrogen pressure vessel or installation is checked for leaks or flaws. This has started to take over from Helium based leak detection due to availability and cost constraints.

Sizes Available

  • 1.5, 3.5 and 9.1m3

Supafresh 20%CO2 80%O2, 30%CO2 70%O2 and 55%CO2 45%O2

Common Uses

  • Food grade quality gas used to speed up fermentation and age wines as well as to form yeast
  • Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)

Sizes Available

  • 8.6m3 – 20%
  • 5.6m3 – 30%
  • 7.1m3 – 55%
SupaFresh

Supa Stainless 20, 62, 64

Common Uses

  • Shielding gas for high deposition of carbon steel/stainless steel
  • Increased heat input because of the Helium in the mixture allows higher higher travel speeds whilst still maintaining good control of bead shape. Ideal for robotic applications
  • Heavy single pass fillets in structural components
  • Capable of welding over rust surfaces and oil
  • Welding tank seams at higher welding speeds
  • Fabricating stainless steel tanks and components for food, chemical and pharmaceutical

Sizes Available

  • 7.1m3

Supa Laser 15, 24, 34 and 55

Common Uses

  • Used to generate the beam in a wide variety of carbon dioxide lasers
  • Resonator gases are used in gas lasers to generate laser light. The gas mixture for a CO2 laser contains helium, nitrogen and carbon dioxide
  • A modern carbon dioxide laser requires laser gases of high purity. Excessive amounts of impurities may affect the output of the laser. The lifetime of the optical components may also be affected. In this context, water vapour and hydrocarbons are the most critical impurities.

Sizes Available

  • 1.5, 4.0 and 8.8m3

P10 – Methane 10% Argon 90%

Common Uses

  • Used in XRF (X-Ray Flourescence Spectroscopy)s
  • Instrument Quenching gas

Sizes Available

  • 10.5m3
